Rehabilitation Employee Convicted of Sexual Abuse in Ulster County, NY

A former employee of Northeast Center for Special Care (NCSP) in Lake Katrine was convicted of sexually abusing six residents of the facility who were admitted for traumatic brain injuries.

NCSP is a facility that provides rehabilitation and care for those suffering traumatic brain injuries caused by stroke, motor vehicle accidents, falls and other dire events. Jacky Stanley was employed as a “Neighborhood Counselor”, responsible for assisting residents in getting accustomed to the facility. His responsibilities included managing residents social environment and ensuring residents participated in their required programs.

Stanley was arrested in July 2016 and indicted by a grand jury in August 2016 on several felony charges, including Criminal Sexual Act in the First Degree, Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, and Endangering the Welfare of an Incompetent or Physically Disabled Person in the First Degree. The prosecution proved Stanley used his position to gain access to residents and forcibly perform sex acts, including oral sex from July 2014 through February 2015.

The six victims testified in court, Stanley was convicted of crimes relative to each. He was convicted of one count of Criminal Sexual Act in the First Degree, a class B felony, seven counts of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, a class D felony and 16 counts of lesser charges; his sentencing takes place on July 28, 2017 and faces up to 8 1/3 to 25 years in prison.

Attorney Genral Eric T. Schneiderman stated the victims were displayed bravery at trial, which will help “ensure that he will never be able to terrorize vulnerable New Yorkers again.” He continued to say health care facilities are places that families can be sure their loved ones are treated respectfully and his office will continue to prosecute “these types of criminals to the fullest extent of the law and fight for justice for the victims of their abuse.”
